Winning…

I was scrolling through IG as one does and came across a competition and I thought what do I have to lose if I enter and don’t win . NOTHING! but if I win I’ll be mommy of the year to my 5.5 year old for a few weeks 😆 So I entered right here..

Real Life Mum competition

And I WON tickets. 4 tickets to

Disney on Ice 2019

I only have one child that is old enough to appreciate the show, so we had two tickets to spare. It was school holidays for my friend’s kids, I asked if they would love to go! Their mom was like YES, is that a rhetorical question 🙂 🙂

We hatched a plan. It would be a surprise for the kids! And a real big surprise it was! They loved spending time together and watching the show! they found out where they were going only about 5 minutes to the start of the show!!! More winning …

Some pictures from the day out (it was worth taking K out of school mid day for)

Mid show mama and child selfie

Beauty on stage

So much talent

Ogling the toys but this mama wasn’t budging on the no toys deal

Three years on still a firm favourite of the kids

Goofball!! Trying to ice skate without ice! Imagination

Olaf is my favourite! Who doesn’t like warm hugs

So much fun!

It was a lovely day out all in all

Highlights

• everything about the show!

• Surprising the girls!

Girls old enough to know why they can’t get more toys (they have enough toys as it is)!

• Despite only getting slushies they thought it was the best day out

Lowlights

• overpriced toys!

• Traffic getting in (should learn to get their earlier next time).

• I missed seeing Lion King and Dory on ice

To tell you how much fun it is I’ve been asked more than once when we are going again

Wordless Wednesday, Kind of …

One lazy Sunday in March…

chomping down on sugarcane… perfect teething toy

A trip to the Irene Dairy farm…

penny for your thought missy… at the wishing fountain

not turning grey, that is sand in her hair and we haven’t started creche

running away from mommy because she wasnt ready to leave the sand pit. same child that refused to let her feet touch the sand when we got there lol

monkey see monkey do!! my water baby enjoyed this a bit too much and didn’t want to leave. I cringe at the thought of what could be in that water, she may or may not have tried to lick the water off her hand

Changing gears… the “mandatory” tractor ride

and a selfie…

all that fun resulted in a a very dirty and exhausted child, she napped for close to 3 hours

and dinner went down well too. All that fun made for a very hungry child

one way to remove sand from hair. worked for us. now i know

{Friendship Friday} One-sided Relationships…

This topic has been on my mind for sometime now. I’ve always wondered why certain relationships are one-sided. You know the type where you give give give and give but get nothing in return. Of course I’m not talking about physical giving but time, love, affection and you get nothing in return.

A few years ago I made the decision – if I give I need to be given too. Imagine being in a relationship where you are always the one to make the first move, it does become exhausting and probably makes the other person feel less loved.

I’ve always thought that in life you give what you get but I’ve learnt the hard way that it is not always like that!

Picture taken earlier today – a rainbow in our concrete jungle

I’ve actually cut out a few people from my life for that exact reason. And I’m doing that on a regular basis. Hard core but it works for me. With 2 friends I actually went through our chat history and I realised they had never ever ever ever ever sent me a message to check up on me or say hello. They only say hello if I say hello first! And yet another friend only ever says hello when she needs something. Said friend sent me a message last December and said she would come see Kanyin, it’s November and in still waiting!!! Hopefully before Baby turns 10 she will come.

Sunset on the way home yesterday

I have a big love tank but it needs to be replenished

Of course I know once in a while people have stuff going on in their lives and just need space to deal with whatever they are going through but I believe if someone is dear to you, you WILL and CAN find a few seconds to send a quick message to say hello and let a friend know you are thinking of them

Are you like me or you have a tank so full and overflowing you are ok to give give give and get nothing in return. Please tell me I am not alone. And if you are that type of friend to someone make time today to send a quick sms or email to say hello – it might just be what they need t make their day that much better

Hope you have a nice and restful weekend xxx

A Prayer for the Stressed…

Sunset in the capital City (Summer 2013)

Sunset in the capital City (Summer 2013)

Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

The courage to change the things I can.

The wisdom to be careful of the toes I step on today,

As they may be connected to the feet I have to kiss tomorrow.

Help me give 100% at work –

 12% on Monday

23% on Tuesday

40% on Wednesday

20% on Thursday

and 5% on Friday

Help me to remember, when I’m having a bad day,

And it seems that people are trying to wind me up,

It takes 42 muscles to frown,

28 muscles to smile and only 4 to extend my hand…..

And smack them in the mouth!

Don’t know about you but I love it 😆 😆

Hope you have had a good week so far. This weekend I am looking forward to getting my hair done and a 5km women’s race and some R &R.

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

The Spice Route…

I feel like that was where I was last Saturday.

I did manage to wake up before my alarm on Saturday morning,  bright   and early (not so bright though, but early it was past 6am) I made the drive down to do a 5km walk – The Lo.ve Run it was called .

The route wasn’t scenic, just a typical suburban neighbourhood, but you know I would still get a few pictures either way

Some bubbles along the way

I liked the contrast of the white house with black finishes and the “enchanted” leafless tree

I found the colour of this house interesting, unfortunately the picture doesn't do it any justice.

Interesting red leaved tree. Just glad it is not on my property

Some of the street names made me feel like I was threading down the spice route.

Corner of Saffron and Paprika Streets!

Imagine asking someone where they live and they tell you on the corner of Saffron and Paprika Streets! I would think they were joking

There were other spices – Nutmeg, Koljander (coriander) etc. But no need to bore you with pictures of street name poles.

My weekend was quite packed but I did manage to get good rest in between, and I watched  Dani.elle Ste.el movie marathon ( I think I watched 7 or 8 movies), the movies don’t do the book justice, though not  all the books are great anyway (usually quite predictable).  Have you read or do you read Dani.elle Ste.el? I think I have read at least 25 or maybe 30 (or more) of her books. Who is your favourite author? Mine was Sid.ney Shel.don at one time. Love his writing style, the twists in the plot and that he usually had quite strong female characters…

Hope you had a nice and restful weekend?  Have a great week ahead xxx
